Classical music starts in Gina’s life before she was born.
Her mother, an avid classical enthusiast, was eager to share her passion for the classics with her first born - the sounds of Bach to Beethoven and Pipe Organ to Operas were known to fill their home daily.
After noticing a desire for music in Gina, her mother enrolled her in piano lessons at the age of six. Due to finances, lessons were paused but resumed a couple of years later.
Practicing faithfully at the window sill in her bedroom, Gina would dream of the day where she would be able to play not only the music on the page, but also the music she was hearing in her mind. Singing her own compositions and writing song titles down on a piece of paper
would hold her aspirations to one day become a recording artist.
It was after the big move to Oshawa, Ontario where part of her dreams would come true.
The purchase of an upright meant the world to Gina - where she could play her pieces and cherished songs that she hoped to one day share with the world.
Making music was a joy and a privilege, subsequently frustrating her piano teacher - by finishing more pieces than requested weekly. Getting another colleague involved, Gina was asked to take a look at a piece - Bach’s Piano Concerto in B Flat Major to see what she could do with it. To their surprise, Gina played the Concerto the following week.
After winning numerous piano competitions in the Durham region, Gina would eventually pursue her Master’s Degree from the University of Alberta.
Gina continues to perform as a pianist Nationally and Internationally and loves to share her music for solo piano worldwide.
Releasing three albums for solo piano and a one work on a compilation album, EKOS featuring works from the Edmonton Composer Concert Society, a string quintet, choral symphonic work including the Anthem for the country of Grenada’s 25th Anniversary of Independence, are some of the musical endeavours that Gina continues to pursue to offer the
Classical world her best.
